Rainy days...

It has been raining for two weeks now, which has delayed the return of the Fairlady. Everything engine-wise is pretty much sorted out now. Before I take it home, I am having my mechanic do a solid run through of the engine, which includes a 1000 mile maintanence valve job and carburetor adjustment. Hopefully this will clean up the remaining slop in the motor.

In addition to the motor swap, I had Dando's fit a Lokar direct throttle cable to the throttle linkage on the Mikuni's for better engine response. The car sounds AMAZING, very happy with it.

Coming right along...

Stopped by the shop today and it looks like the motor swap is coming right along. The fitment of the Fujitsubo Legalis-R SS Exhaust is a perfect match with the Fujitsubo Super-EX Header, as expected. Very tight, and very clean :)

Also picked up a nice quality radiator to keep all the goods cool!

Teaser

Here is a little teaser of the progress with the Rebello 3.0L Motor swap into the Fairlady. The Fujitsubo Super-Ex Header fits flawlessly since the steering column is on the other side. The MSD should be hooked up soon, but the distributor is installed, as are the Mikuni's. A few more putterings here and there to do. We came across a throttle linkage issue, because it is on the other side. We probably will come up with a custom bracket, or make use of a 36" Lokar direct throttle cable.

Quick snap shot with my Blackberry of the Fairlady in front of the Buddhist Church of Japan Town, San Jose.

Getting ready to bring her in for the 3.0L Rebello swap!

JDM Cockpit

In addition to the early Z Car Rally Clock and passenger foot rest that came with the Z, I added a few other goodies since its purchase. Amongst them include a period correct Datsun Competition Steering Wheel, and a super rare factory early 5-speed shift knob. Received the shift knob in an EMS package from Japan today! :D

These shift knobs were available only on Z's outside of the United States, as the we did not get the 5-speeds until 1975. There are replicas available in Japan but they are often a bit more bulky shaped, whereas the originals are a thin oval "bullet-type."

Hella flush?

A beautiful example of a flared 240Z with perfectly flush wheels/tires. I believe the sizes of these wheels are 15x8.5 fronts and 15x9 or 9.5 rears. The tire sizes I am not so sure of. If anyone knows more info please update me!

One last farewell...

Tomorrow the Datsun 240Z HLS30-11651 will be sent off to Dandos for its last surgical removal of parts. It will then be shipped off to the hands of a worthy collector in Atlanta, GA.

Goodbye friend :( Thank you for the short, but great times!
